Short-circuit isolators are required by NFPA 72 and Canadian fire codes between defined groups of addressable devices on Class A and Class B SLC loops so that a single wiring fault does not disable an entire loop. The INX-10A is Mircom’s inline isolator module for this purpose: it detects a short between its loop input and output terminals, opens the affected segment to protect the rest of the SLC, and re-closes automatically once the fault is cleared during service. Quantity and placement of isolators is determined by the engineered drawings for the specific Mircom panel program and must follow the SLC loop topology rules published in the panel installation manual.
