The Gamewell-FCI MCS-COF3 is a multi-criteria addressable detector that combines four sensing elements in one head: photoelectric, thermal (135°F rate-of-rise), infrared, and a separate electrochemical CO cell. Sophisticated panel-side algorithms cross-reference the four signals to amplify real-fire response while rejecting nuisance triggers like cooking aerosols and dust.

The CO cell drives a separate UL 2075 life-safety carbon monoxide channel, the panel sees fire and CO as distinct events at the same SLC address. CO cell life is 10 years with automatic end-of-life warning. Single Velociti address per detector. White finish.

Four sensors, one address, why this matters

Single-sensor smoke detectors trade sensitivity against nuisance immunity. Adding heat, IR signature, and CO concentration gives the algorithm enough data to distinguish a smouldering electrical fire from theater fog or cooking smoke. In code-compliant occupancies that also require CO monitoring (residential, healthcare, schools per ICC 2018 update), the MCS-COF3 replaces a separate smoke and CO detector on the same address.

Recommended base: B200S intelligent sounder

The B200S series sounder bases generate the System Sensor synchronization-protocol signals: Temp 3 pattern for fire alarm, Temp 4 pattern for CO alarm. One detector + sounder base drives both signals from the same ceiling location, recognized by the synchronization protocol as part of the general evacuation signal.
