The Gamewell-FCI INI-VGE is the third-generation bulk voice gateway module for the E3 Series Classic Emergency Voice Evacuation System. It connects the analog bulk-amplification audio path to the E3 Classic token-ring network and is the network node for the voice evacuation subsystem. Standard wiring is twisted-pair; an optional fiber-optic module is available for longer or noise-sensitive runs (replaces the legacy INI-VGE-FO and INI-VGE-UTP).
The E3 Classic architecture uses 100-watt AA-100 or 120-watt AA-120 bulk amplifiers, fewer, larger amplifiers concentrated at the panel feed rather than the distributed AM-50 amplifiers used in the newer E3 Broadband. Classic is the right architecture for large single-building installs where centralizing the audio path simplifies design and inventory: industrial sites, university campuses with one main building, high-rise complexes with a single command center.
Network topology, peer-to-peer ARCNET token ring
Up to 64 nodes per network (122 nodes with the ANX Addressable Node Expander). Twisted-pair runs up to 3,000 feet (914 meters) between nodes; fiber-optic links support up to 8 dB loss between nodes for longer-distance applications. The network is self-regenerating, a single break does not bring the system down, the token route reconfigures around the fault.
Classic vs Broadband, when to specify which
Pick Classic (this INI-VGE) when bulk amplification fits the building topology, centralized panel, audio fed from one or two large amplifier banks. Pick Broadband (INI-VGX) when audio needs to distribute close to the speaker zones, multi-building campuses, very long buildings where amplifier-to-speaker wire runs would otherwise drop the power. The two systems are not interoperable; the SKU choice is architectural, not incremental.
System role
The INI-VGE works in concert with the ILI-MB-E3 / ILI95-MB-E3 intelligent loop interface main boards, the ANX node expander, the RPT-E3 repeater, the PM-9 / PM-9G power supplies, the ASM-16 switch sub-assembly, the ANU-48 LED driver, and the LCD-E3 or LCD-SLP display. The full system reaches the configuration that the E3 Classic datasheet (9020-0641) documents.
