The Gamewell-FCI ASD-PTL3 combines a Velociti Series 3 photoelectric smoke sensor with a thermal sensor in a single intelligent addressable head. The optical chamber is the same UL 268 7th Edition design used across the Velociti Series 3 line; the thermal element adds a 135°F fixed-temperature trigger and a rate-of-rise detector for fast-developing fires.
Each detector occupies one address on a Gamewell-FCI Velociti loop. Rotary decimal switches set addresses from 01 to 159. Dual bicolor LEDs provide 360 degree visibility (green on poll, red on alarm). Sensitivity is programmable per detector via the panel software.
Combined photoelectric and thermal sensing, when to specify
The thermal element supplements photoelectric detection in environments where smouldering smoke alone is an insufficient indicator, or where fast-developing fires produce heat before significant smoke. Common scenarios: cooking-adjacent spaces, mechanical rooms, industrial process areas. The dual sensor logic remains intelligent, the panel sees photo and thermal data independently per address.
Thermal element specs
Fixed-temperature trigger at 135°F (57°C). Rate-of-rise: greater than 15°F per minute (8.3°C/min). Operating range narrows slightly to 32-100°F (0-38°C) when the thermal element is active.
Compatible panels: E3 Series, S3 Series, GWF-7075
ASD-PTL3 runs on Velociti protocol. E3 Series and S3 Series panels speak Velociti natively. The GWF-7075 supports Velociti but not CLIP, relevant only when mixing this loop with -IV detectors.
Listings and approvals
UL Listed S2332 under UL 268 7th Edition. FM Approved 3023594. CSFM 7272-1703:0501. MEA FDNY COA-219-02-E Vol. VI. ISO 9001 certified manufacturing.
Base required, sold separately
The detector head ships without a base. Typical pairings: B501-WHITE (4-inch flangeless) for surface flush, B300-6 (6-inch flanged) for legacy ceiling boxes. Sounder, isolator, and relay bases from the B200 and B224 series are also compatible.
