End-of-line resistors are used to electrically terminate Class B initiating device circuits so that the fire alarm control panel or monitor module can supervise the field wiring for open faults. The resistor sits at the last device on the loop and draws a defined standby current that the monitor circuit watches continuously — any deviation outside the supervision window triggers a trouble condition at the panel. The 47k ohm value is specified by Fire-Lite for the input side of MMF-300-series addressable monitor modules and several other supervised inputs; the panel or module datasheet should be consulted to confirm the correct EOL value for each circuit.
