End-of-line resistors are used to electrically terminate Class B initiating device circuits so the fire alarm control panel can supervise the wiring for open faults. The resistor is installed at the last device on the loop, drawing a defined standby current that the panel monitors continuously — any deviation outside the supervision window triggers a trouble condition at the panel. The 4.7k ohm value is specified by Fire-Lite for several conventional IDC inputs and for the input side of certain monitor modules, so verifying the panel manual or module datasheet for the correct EOL value is required before installation.
